Unlike regular glass, quartz glass has an extremely small coefficient of thermal expansion. In the case of natural quartz, the maximum temperature for use is about 1,100 °C on a continuous basis and about 1,300 °C on a short-term basis. Furthermore, quartz tubes that have undergone ST processing have a longer heat-resistance lifespan than those have not been processed.
